Student Resources for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Visit
What is HLC?
HLC stands for the Higher Learning Commission. HLC provides accreditation to SWIC and its programs, which enables us to serve you in many ways such as granting degrees and receiving federal financial aid.
Why Does HLC Matter to You?
Reviewers from HLC will visit SWIC on October 14-15 as part of our 10-year accreditation process. During their visit they will meet with faculty, staff, and students! If you are on campus during their visit, you may be stopped by a reviewer and asked to answer questions about your experience at SWIC. The college greatly values your involvement.
HLC Visit
During the visit reviewers will want to talk to students. Below are some questions they may ask.
- Give examples of how you have received quality instruction here at SWIC.
- What resources are available to SWIC students? For resources you utilized, describe your experience.
- How do you feel supported at SWIC?
- Give an example of a campus event that you enjoyed or look forward to.
There are no wrong answers to these questions; just give your honest feedback and share your own experiences (not the experiences of others).
