The Aviation Maintenance Technology program gives you the opportunity to obtain the FAA-approved Airframe and/or Powerplant Certificate in one year and an Associate in Applied Science degree with an additional semester of classes.
The FAA approved certificate allows you to take the FAA written, oral and practical tests in the General, Airframe, and Powerplant courses. Upon successful completion of the FAA tests, the FAA will issue a FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant License.
This program offers a one-year or two-year format. The one-year format allows you to obtain the A&P Certificate (core courses) in 50 weeks (eight hours per day). The two-year format allows you to complete the A&P Certificate or Associate in Applied Science degree taking classes four hours per day.

CERTIFICATION PASS RATE
In order to become a licensed mechanic for Aviation Maintenance Powerplant, applicants must pass both the Aviation Maintenance General Test and the Aviation Maintenance Powerplant Test. Below are the average pass rates for SWIC graduates from 2022-2023.
