Medical Surgical Technology - Southwestern Illinois College

Belleville Campus Quad in Fall

Be the Backbone of the Surgery

The SWIC Medical Surgical Technology program prepares students to gain theoretical knowledge and develop skills necessary to become a certified medical surgical technologist. Surgical technologists prepare surgical supplies and equipment, maintain aseptic and sterile conditions and assist the surgical team in peri-operative settings.

Surgical technologists can gain employment in hospital, outpatient, and/or privately owned surgical departments along with organ procurement centers and central supply processing units.
