Illinois Agricultural Statistics Service
The Illinois Agricultural Statistics Service (IASS) is one of 45 State Statistical Offices within the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). IASS is operated through a cooperative arrangement with the Illinois Department of Agriculture. The primary responsibilities of IASS are the development and issuance of statistics about Illinois Agriculture. The Service prepares and issues official USDA estimates that include acres planted and harvested, yield per acre and production of the major crops, number of livestock on farms, livestock products, stocks of agricultural commodities, value and utilization of farm products, prices received and paid by farmers, and cost of producing crop and livestock commodities.
