Sexual Harassment and Misconduct (Title IX)

Southwestern Illinois College prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, which includes sex-based harassment, in its admission, education, employment, programs and activities.  The prohibited offenses that we have outlined in our policy are also prohibited by Title IX of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972.

Sexual harassment includes but is not limited to unwelcome requests for sexual favors, sexual advances, other verbal, non-verbal, or physical conduct of a sexual nature.

Sex-Based Harassment includes:        

  • Sexual Assault
  • Dating/Domestic Violence                                 
  • Stalking                                                              
  • Hostile Environment                                          
  • Quid Pro Quo                                                                      

Sex Discrimination includes:

  • Sex Stereotypes
  • Sex Characteristics
  • Pregnancy or related conditions
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Gender Identity
