Contest Rules
Important note:
* Please make sure to maintain current social distancing requirements.
YOUR SUBMISSION URL MUST BE PUBLIC. If we cannot see your submission the entry will be automatically disqualified.
NOTE: ONLY STUDENTS QUALIFY TO ENTER TALENT! Donate to vote is open to the public!
We will be reviewing all submissions to make sure they meet these guidelines. If a submission does not meet all requirements the submission may be disqualified.
- YOUR SUBMISSION URL MUST BE PUBLIC UNTIL YOU SEE YOUR SUBMISSION ONLINE. If we cannot see your submission the entry will be automatically disqualified.
- You must be an active student at any SWIC campus location to enter any contest or register for any prizes.
- Only 1 submission per person per activity/category that you qualify for. If you submit more than one entry per activity/category only the most recent submission will be accepted and all other submissions will be void for that activity/category.
- Images must be no more than 5MB in size and clearly show student as the primary focus.
- Please keep your submission family-friendly. No swearing. No mention of violence, drugs, or abusive material. Please wear modest clothing and make sure the background of your scene is clear of any inappropriate items.
- If you are videotaping on a phone keep it horizontal/wide screen (When recording please do not record holding the phone like you would if you were talking on it instead turn the phone on its side and record).
- Videos must be under 3 minutes.
- Videos must be no more than 8MB in size and clearly show talent as the primary focus.
- Audio files will not be accepted.
- Submission must maintain social distancing requirements.
- Make sure not to use images, videos, or sounds that might be copyrighted. You must own all rights to the art, audio, videos, or photos in the submission.
- Student needs to be the main act.
- If you are not the only person involved, you must have permission from all participants to post.
- Student must be the submitter. You cannot submit an entry for another person. If the submission looks like it was not submitted by the student it will be automatically disqualified.
- Student enrollment will be verified before posting any submissions. If we cannot verify submitter is an active student the entry will be automatically disqualified.
- If you submit something that is not family friendly or is questionable and the entry is accepted into the contest it may not be posted on social media or the public website. Is your submission something you would show your potential employer or your grandparents?
- If you are covering a song make sure your voice is what we hear. If the original singer is all we can hear you will lose points when we are judging.
- If you do not see your entry online on the last day of submissions it is better to submit your entry again before the deadline.
- Please be safe.
- Dangerous stunts are not allowed. Southwestern Illinois College Shining Stars Talent Show will not accept any submission that puts the contestant, or any other person, animal or property in any imminent danger.
- Do not attempt anything beyond your skill set.

- Videos must be no more than 3 mins and 8MB in size clearly show talent as the primary focus.
